Action

Reminder:  Configure Recalled Overdue Suspension penalties by January 31, 2025.

The ability to configure recall suspension penalties was enabled with the 20 October 2024 release of WorldShare Circulation.

You will now see the option to configure Recalled Overdue Suspension penalties in the Loan Policy screen under Overdue Loans / Recalled Loan -- Recalled Overdue Suspension.  You are able to select from all suspension structures currently configured which will appear in a drop-down list.  You are also able to remove a suspension penalty by choosing the blank option at the top of the drop-down list.

Please note:  The system will currently fall back to the regular loan suspension for recalled items if recalled loan suspensions have not yet been configured.  However, this fall back logic will be removed 90 days after the October install so be sure to configure Recalled Overdue Suspension penalties to ensure there are no interruptions to suspensions.

New features and enhancements

Recalls:  Due Date Enhancements

Staff have the option to select the due date when recalling an overdue item

In the Staff UI, the user now has an option to select a due date when recalling an overdue item.

Improved error messaging when recalling an item from the hold form

When using the date picker to choose a recall date on the item hold form, dates in the past will be grayed out and will not be an option.  If you type in the date and it is in the past, an error message will display, prompting you to choose a date in the future so that the recall request will go through properly.

Bug Fixes

Items that should not qualify for holds were showing up on the Pull List

Items that were not requestable were showing up on the Pull List.  The logic has been corrected and now you should no longer see non-requestable items listed on the Pull List.

The override permission for suspensions that were beyond policy wasn't working properly

The override dialog box was not responding as expected when you wanted to apply a suspension to a patron record that was beyond policy.  Now, the dialog box will appear and you can acknowledge the override, resulting in the intended suspension processing correctly.

Special Hours were being ignored when branch open hours were undefined

In some cases, Special Hours were being ignored when calculating a due date if some branch hours were not defined in the configuration.  Now, your Special Hours will be considered in the calculation of due dates, regardless of how other open hours are defined.
