Introduction

This release of WorldShare Record Manager provides one new feature in addition to two bug fixes. This new feature will help you manage more complex workflows, including:

  • A new Cataloging Basic role that, once assigned, provides access to the simplified cataloging interface to set holdings and send a record to an export list 
  • Bug fixes:
    • A validation error when creating records with Arabic script in the text-view bibliographic record editor was fixed on February 13
    • The Cataloging Full role had access to Institution Settings for WMS libraries 

Many of these enhancements are the direct result of your feedback.

Action

If you want to assign the new Cataloging Basic role to one of your staff members, you need to log in with the Cataloging Admin role and then assign this role to the respective user.

New features and enhancements

New Cataloging Basic role

The new Cataloging Basic role is now available to assign. Users that have this role assigned to their user account will have limited options in the simplified cataloging interface in Record Manager.

They will be able to:

  • Perform searches under WorldCat and My Library Holdings
  • Select a bibliographic record from result lists 
  • View bibliographic records in a read only MARC21 or Text view
  • Print a record
  • Set holding and add a bibliographic record to an export list

Exporting a record will send it to an export list.

Users with the Cataloging Basic role assigned will not be able to create an export list or delete WorldCat holdings. Also, they cannot send records to a label print list, export the record to a local system via TCP/IP, or add local data. If these actions are needed for a user, the Cataloging Simplified role can be used. 

Bug fixes

Validation errors when creating records using Arabic script in the text-view editor was fixed February 13

You can now create records in Arabic script using the text-view editor. Previously when adding a title or a 260 field that contained Arabic script in the text-view editor, a validation error occurred.

A user with the Cataloging Full role assigned had access to Institution Settings for WMS libraries

A user with the Cataloging Full role assigned no longer has access to Institution Settings to update Audience Level or LHR Change History settings for WMS libraries. Only users with the Cataloging Admin role can access Institution Settings. Previously, both Cataloging Full and Cataloging Admin would be able to access Institution Settings.
