Derive Record Options

Find out how to access and use the Derive Record tab on the Options window in Connexion client.

Purpose of the Derive Record Options window

  • Select fields you want to transfer to new records you derive from existing  records, including:
    • Bibliographic WorldCat records
    • Bibliographic constant data
  • Reset fields to transfer to the default

Access the Derive Record Options window

  1. Navigate to Tools > Options > Derive Record.
  2. Select check boxes to select or clear fields to transfer to derived records as described in the table below.
  3. Click OK or Apply.

Derive Record Options window: Features and buttons

Feature How to use
Check boxes under Bibliographic Records and Constant Data Select fields you want to transfer to derived bibliographic WorldCat records or bibliographic constant data (check mark indicates fields selected).
Or
Click to deselect fields you do not want to transfer (a blank check box indicates fields cleared).

Default: The following fields transfer: 1XX, 2XX, 3XX, 4XX, 5XX, 6XX, 7XX, 8XX (where X = any number)
 

 Note: No matter which fields you select to transfer, the following fields do not transfer to a derived WorldCat record or constant data record: 01X, 029, 040, 042, 049, 066, 079, 850, 886, 887, 938, 956, 987

Button name Click the button to...
Reset (2) Reset fields to transfer to the default selections (see lists above).
OK Apply the settings you entered (or press <Enter>). The Options window closes.
Cancel Cancel any changes you made since the last time you saved any changes to options. The Options window closes.
Apply Apply the settings you entered without closing the Options window. You can continue checking or changing other options settings.
