Tab-delimited collection export does not contain all records.

Symptom
  • When exporting a tab-delimited file of the complete collection, it is missing records or cuts off unexpectedly in the middle of a record.
Applies to
  • CONTENTdm Administration
Resolution

This can happen because of the presence of tab characters within metadata fields and is most often caused by tab characters within Transcript or data type full text search fields. The record where the the tab-delimited file cuts off is likely where the errant character is, however this is not typically an isolated issue.

Reach out to OCLC Support and provide the server ID and collection being exported. An alternative file format can be provided, but will require post-processing to convert to a tab-delimited file. Additionally, the alternative can be used to identify what records contain the tab characters causing the collection metadata export issues.
