Odd 066 tag and a second 245 tag with "<>." in MARC record with no non-Latin characters

Symptom

  • After working with a MARC record you find after replacing the record that a 066 tag and a second 245 tag appeared with "<>." in it.

Applies to

  • Connexion client

Resolution

If you don't see any non-Latin characters in the record, there is likely some kind of non-Latin character that you are not able to see in your 245 tag. To fix it,  follow these steps:

  1. Unlink the 245 fields by right-clicking within the second 245.
  2. Delete the second 245 tag along with the 066 tag.
  3. Delete the original 245 tag.
  4. Re-type in the 245 tag without any copying & pasting.

The system should allow you to replace the record then export it afterward.
