Mark bibliographic records for batch update holdings

Mark a record for batch update holdings

Minimum authorization level: Batch Produce and Update Holdings actions require Full or higher authorization.

  1. Save the records you want to batch update and produce in the bibliographic local save file.
  2. Display a bibliographic record from the local save file that you want to mark for update and produce.
    Or
    Select records in the local bibliographic save file list:
    • To select adjacent records, click to highlight the first entry, and then press and hold <Shift> and click the last entry.
    • To select nonadjacent entries, click to highlight the first entry, and then press <Ctrl> and click to highlight each additional entry.
  3. Click Action > Holdings and then select Update Holdings or press <F8>.
  4. When finished marking records, run batch processing.Updating and producing records via batch has the same results as updating and producing interactively.

Quick batch alternative: Batch process holdings by OCLC control numbers alone. Enter or import OCLC numbers, and the client locates the records and processes the actions without downloading the records (Batch > Holdings by OCLC Number). You can process Update Holdings, Produce and Update Holdings, or Delete Holdings.

Clear Ready status to remove record from batch

To withdraw record(s) from batch Update and Produce, remove the Ready status:

  1. Open a record from the local bibliographic save file with a Ready status for Update Holdings or Produce.
    Or
    Select records in the local bibliographic save file list that have the Ready status for Update Holdings or Produce:
    • To select adjacent records, click to highlight the first entry, and then press and hold <Shift> and click the last entry.
    • To select nonadjacent entries, click to highlight the first entry, and then press <Ctrl> and click to highlight each additional entry.
  2. Click Action > Set Status or press <Alt><Shift><S>.
  3. In the Set Status window, under Remove ready status for batch, select a check box.
    • Update Holdings
    • Produce
  4. Click OK to remove the action and close the window.
    • Removes the Ready status (R) from the record(s).
    • Removes the record(s) from inclusion in the next batch run, unless you mark it for another action.

    Click Cancel to close the window without removing the actions.
