I cannot add a new user in CONTENTdm Administration and receive the error "Sorry, this username already exists."

Symptom
  • Adding a user name in CONTENTdm Administration returns the error " Sorry, this username already exists" even though that user name does not appear in the list.

Resolution

This happens because the CONTENTdm Administration Users page has reached the display limit of 200 accounts. Accounts that do not show up in the list can be manually retrieved by navigating directly to the desired user name:

  1. Enter https://server#####.contentdm.oclc.org/cgi-bin/admin/showperm.exe?CISOUSER=username in your browser URL bar
  2. Replace the bold values with your Server ID and the desired user name

If the user name is not configured, it will return the message "User user name not found."
