Why is an item's bibliographic data wrong in Circulation?

Symptom
  • The title, author, or other bibliographic data is incorrect in circulation notifications, receipts, checkout, etc.
Applies to
  • WorldShare Circulation
Resolution

Some of the bibliographic data displayed in Circulation, printed on receipts, and sent in email notices comes from a copy of WorldCat that Circulation maintains as barcoded Local Holding Record items are created, updated, or deleted. Circulation only learns about bibliographic data updates as Local Holding Record updates take place for at least one institution in the same data center.

To correct, update any item related to the OCLC number (e.g. add and then remove a private/staff note). This will force a resync of the bibliographic data from WorldCat into Circulation.
