Introduction

This release of WorldShare Acquisitions provides an underlying database technology upgrade which will impact vendor searching syntax.

Recommended actions

For this release, we recommend that you review the following checklists and complete the relevant tasks so that you can adjust your policies and workflows and train your staff. These checklists identify updates that we have determined as significant for most institutions. We encourage you to review all of the items in the release notes to determine whether there are other items that might require additional action or follow up by your institution.

New features and enhancements

New search syntax for searching vendors

The underlying database technology is being updated for vendor management.  Functionality will remain largely the same, but the search syntax will be updated. This will impact both searching for vendors under the "Vendors" section in the left-hand menu as well as when using the vendor autocomplete (e.g. when creating new orders or new invoices). This will save you time and effort by providing additional vendor searching options not available before.

This search syntax will include the following:

Search Syntax Behavior Changed or Same? Behavior of Search Example Search Term Example Match
No quotes or asterisks around search terms. Same Will perform a "keyword" search on any word provided in any order. Will also match on words where the start of the word matches the search term.

Pub Collin

Collins Publishing
Quotes around search terms. Changed This will now perform an exact match search where the entire string must match something (e.g. vendor name) in the vendor record. "Collins Publishing" Collins Publishing
Asterisk at end of search term Same Will perform a "starts with" search, where the beginning of the search term must match. Collins Pub* Collins Publishing
Asterisk at beginning of search term Changed Will perform an "ends with" search, where the end of the search term must match. *ollins Publishing Collins Publishing
Asterisk at beginning and end of search Same Will perform a "contains" search, where search term(s) are found anywhere in vendor record. *ollins Pub* Collins Publishing
