New features and enhancements
New open access request APIs
You can now use our open access request APIs to build integrations and new software applications related to open access requests. We launched our new open access functionality (focused on APC support) last month. Now, you can build on top of the APIs that power this functionality. This includes being able to:
- Create new open access requests
- Update open access requests
- Approve open access requests
- Invoice open access requests.
For example, you could build a web form that allows patrons to request APC payment and hook it into the "create open access request" endpoint to automatically create open access requests. Previously, no APIs were available for open access, so integration and new applications were impossible. Now, the sky is the limit with our new open access APIs.
To request WSKey access to these new APIs, go to: https://platform.worldcat.org/wskey/ .
To view the specifications for these new API endpoints, go to: https://developer.api.oclc.org/wms-acq-v2. New API endpoints will be available here on Friday, April 10, 2026.
