User import process alert

Learn how to receive alerts about the success or failure of the user import process.

The User Import Process Alert can be set up to notify you if batches of user records being imported by the overnight Daystart process succeed or fail.

Create user import process alert

  1. If you have not already done so, configure the SMTP Server name.
  2. Go to Data Exchange>Import Batch and search with the wildcard (%) or for Daystart
  3. Modify the Daystart scheduled import - Users (Batch No. -2) record.
  4. On the Import Settings sheet, complete the fields shown here:
Field Instructions
Entry user This is used to assign to the imported data in the "Entered By" field. This defaults to the current user.
New Items Folder This folder will be used to list newly created records for this import. Records will be added, but not automatically removed from this folder at the start of each run.
Matched Items Folder This folder will be used to list records that match existing incoming data for this import. Records will be added, but not automatically removed from this folder at the start of each run. If not specified, then matching records will also be listed in the New Items Folder.
Email on Completion Set to Yes
From Address Enter a valid email address from which your SMTP server will process emails
To List Add the email addresses to which the alert should be sent - separate email addresses by a semi-colon.
CC List Add the email addresses to which the alert should be copied - separate email addresses by a semi-colon.
BCC List  Add the email addresses to which the alert should be blind copied- separate email addresses by a semi-colon.
Subject Line (OK)  Enter the subject line of the email which will be sent if the import is successful.
...with info Enter the subject line of the email which will be sent if the import fails or has problems.
No. Loaded logs to retain You may complete this or leave it blank - if left blank it defaults to 10 logs
No. Failed logs to retain  You may complete this or leave it blank - if left blank it defaults to 5 logs

Import alert process

The alert will send one of three types of message:

  • The import failed - in this case the log file is attached to the email
  • The import succeeded, but generated log messages - the log file is attached to the email
  • The import succeeded without generating log messages - there is no log file attached to the email
