Introduction

The following release notes are for the AUGUST 8, 2023 special release of WorldCat Discovery.  

WorldCat Discovery August Special Release Highlights  

This release of WorldCat Discovery includes the following enhancement: 

  • View a cohesive discovery experience across modernized and legacy pages. 

These changes are a direct result of your feedback. 

Include Request ID with problem reports 

When reporting an issue with WorldCat Discovery, it is extremely helpful to include the Request ID. The Request ID is found at the bottom of the screen on which the issue occurred. Including this information allows us to directly trace what happened on the request we are troubleshooting.

New features and enhancements

View a cohesive discovery experience across modernized and legacy pages 

This release includes the implementation of a modernized header/footer for pages not included in our 2021 interface modernization. With these changes, users will have a more cohesive discovery experience across all pages in WorldCat Discovery. 

With the same header/footer on all pages in WorldCat Discovery, users will be able to perform actions to Sign In, access Saved Items, navigate to Advanced Search, etc. from the same location on every page.

Leveraging this experience requires no action from your library. Upon release, all pages will automatically update with the new header and footer.
