Search Auto

Find information about Search Auto in Relais ILL.

Search Auto is an application that runs unattended in the background, automatically searching one or more catalogues for matches to fill ILL requests.

When Search Auto is running, your system administrator can monitor the Search Auto process via the Search Auto window.

Matches are made by searching the following fields in this order:

  • ISSN/ISBN
  • Call Number
  • Title Phrase
  • Keyword Search on Title & Author

Three Instances of Search Auto

By default, Search Auto is configured to handle each of the following three instances:

  • Supplying
  • Requesting Books
  • Requesting Articles

When your library acts as supplier, Search Auto is configured to search your library's own catalog.  When your library is requesting, Search Auto searches your own catalogue and your preferred external supplier catalogues.
