What happens after scheduling an upgrade for our ILLiad Hosted Server?

Applies to
  • ILLiad
Answer
  • The main contact and any guest email address(es) will receive a confirmation email from the new MS Bookings OCLC ILLiad hosting service scheduling system; informing them of the date and time of the scheduled upgrade. If you do not receive an email within a day, please contact OCLC Support.
  • The confirmation message will include details about the upgrade process. A one-day reminder message will also be sent, along with a notification when the two-hour scheduled date/time upgrade window is complete.
  • All scheduled times are viewable in various time zones based on the current web browser choice for the "All times are in .. "
  • During the upgrade, OCLC operations staff will disable ILLiad Web Services, preventing patrons and librarians from using the system to avoid potential data loss.
  • Consider posting a Web Alert for patrons in advance to notify them of the system downtime during the upgrade process. Refer to the "Creating Web Alerts" documentation for guidance.
  • There is no need to inform OCLC staff on the day of the upgrade that everyone is off the system.
  • After the two-hour upgrade window, you should check for ILLiad Client updates. If no delays are communicated by OCLC staff, right-click on the ILLiad Client and select "Run as Administrator" to update to the latest version. If unable to do so, you can download the latest version from the Atlas Systems site:  ILLiad Downloads.
  • OCLC support will follow up with the library to ensure everything works properly. If you need immediate ILLiad Client assistance, please contact OCLC Support.
