Release Date: February 26, 2025

Introduction

This release of WorldShare Record Manager provides two new features and enhancements in addition to one bug fix . These features will help you manage more complex workflows, including:

  • Bulk edit field indicators for Local Bibliographic Data (LBD)
  • Bulk edit field indicators for Local Holdings Records (LHR)
  • Bug fixes:
    • Last label of a label print list shows correctly in label layout

These enhancements are the direct result of your feedback.

New features and enhancements

Bulk edit field indicators for Local Bibliographic Data (LBD)

A new base script, "Update LBD Field Indicator", has been added to the list of base scripts for LBD records. This allows you to set and update indicators 1 and 2 in LBD records from  your record work list.

The new script is available under Record Work Lists /  LBD .

Open an existing record work list and select "Base Script" as your Edit Action. In the list of script names, you will now see the new script.

The script allows you to update indicators in any LBD field, either without adding a condition or depending on a pre-existing indicator or field content.

When typing in the values for fields, indicators, and matching conditions, there is no check if e.g. a field exists or an indicator is valid for the field you added. When running the script or previewing your changes, validation will take place and make sure that whichever change you've submitted to be made the LBD record is valid after the script has been applied.

Example 1: update field 590 indicator 1 and set it to value "1"

Select the LBD record(s) you wish to update, type in the field and indicator you want to update, and then click on Edit under the Actions menu to run the script.

Example 2:  update field 590 indicator 1 and set it to value "1" if field 590 has matching content (in this example: it contains the work "Bohr")

Example 3:  update indicator 2, set it to 7, and add a $2 subfield with "swd"

Note that when you add or remove a second indicator 2 with a value of 7 this is a special case, as indicator 2=7 requires a valid $2 subfield. When typing in indicator 2=7 and clicking out of the field, an option to "Add $2" will appear on the screen.

Example 4:  update indicator 2, set it to 0 if it currently has a $2 subfield with "swd" and remove the $2

You can preview one or multiple records that you are about to update before running the script. Expand the Actions menu, select "View Selected Record(s)" and then "Preview Record(s) after Edit Action Applied".

This will take you to the view of the record(s) if the script had been applied. Note that this is only the preview, no records have been changed yet!

Bulk edit field indicators for Local Holdings Records (LHR)

A new base script "Update LHR Field Indicator" has been added to the list of base scripts for LHR records that allows you to set and update indicators 1 and 2 in LHR records from your record work list.

The new script is available under Record Work Lists /  LHR .

Open an existing record work list and select "Base Script" as your Edit Action. In the list of script names, you will now see the new script.

The new script "Update LHR Field Indicator" has the same options as the corresponding script for editing LBD records (see above) and all the above examples apply to LHRs as well.
However, for LHR records there can be an indicator 1=7, so the handling of the $2 subfield tied to indicator 7 applies to LHRs , too.

Example 1:  update indicator 1, set it to 0 if it currently has a "7" and remove the $2

Bug fixes

Last label of a label print list now shows correctly in label layout

The last label of a label print list will now show correctly in the label layout. Previously  the last label was not displaying if any of the labels in the print list had multiple enumeration/chronology selected.
