Export preferences

Before you can export a record, you must set up your export preferences in the User Preference window.

Set export preferences from the Saved Lists Export tab

  1. In the left navigation, click Label and Export Lists.
  2. Select the Export tab.
  3. Select the Bibliographic (default) or Authority radio button.
  4. Click the User Preferences button (User Preferences button).
  5. (Optional). (Bibliographic export lists only). If you want the system to generate an error message before you export MARC 21 bibliographic records that include unlinked non-Latin script fields, select Warn before exporting bibliographic records that include unlinked non-Latin script fields.
  6. For TCP/IP, enter:
    • Host Name - Enter the TCP/IP name (for example: lib.domain.edu) or the numeric TCP/IP address of the host computer that runs your local system.
    • Port Number - Enter the number of the port at your site that provides direct access to your local library system.
    • Authentication - Choose an authentication option from the drop-down list. For available options, see export preference options below.
      • None
      • Login ID - Enter the ID and password to access your local system. Select Mask Password if you do not want the password to be visible.
      • User ID - Enter the ID to access your local system. Select Mask ID if you do not want the ID to be visible.
  7. For Connection Delay, select the Wait Time that occurs between each record sent in a batch from the drop-down list.
  8. For Connection Attempts, select the Maximum Number of attempts to retry connecting to the local system if the first connection attempt fails from the drop-down list.
  9. For Exclude Data, you can:
    • Enter a Tag to remove all fields with that tag.
    • Enter a Tag, Ind 1, and/or Ind 2 to remove all fields with that tag and indicator(s).
      Note: If one or more of the indicators you want to remove are blank in the record, leave the corresponding indicator box(es) blank.
    • Enter one or more Subfields to remove all subfields with that code.
       Note: To remove the same subfield(s) from all subfield(s) with the same tag, do not enter indicators.
  10. Click Save.
  11. If your local system is behind your site's firewall:
    1. Specify a host name/address and port number that provide access to your local system through the firewall.
    2. Configure the firewall software to recognize and accept data from any numeric IP address within the following address range: 132.174.100.0/24 (all numeric addresses from 132.174.100.1 through 132.174.100.253).

Set export preferences from a MARC 21 WorldCat bibliographic record

  1. From the MARC 21 editor, click the User Preferences button (User Preferences button).
  2. Select a Format from the drop-down list. For available formats, see export preference options below.
  3. (Optional). If you want the system to generate an error message before you export MARC 21 bibliographic records that include unlinked non-Latin script fields, select Warn before exporting bibliographic records that include unlinked non-Latin script fields.
  4. For TCP/IP, enter:

    • For Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs), you can select to receive URIs when exporting LC, GND, and MeSH records with controlled headings provided that key subfields are controlled to the same authority record.

      • For Name Headings Identity Services, select GND Authorities and/or LC/NACO Authority File.
      • For Subject Headings Identity Services, select GND AuthoritiesLC Subject Authority File, and/or MeSH Authorities.
  8. Click Save.
