Add/Modify Text String

Find out how to access and use the Add/Modify Text String window in Connexion client.

Purpose of the Add/Modify Text String window

  • Create a new text string for frequently used data.
  • Edit a text string or description you created previously.

Access the Add/Modify Text String window

  1. Navigate to Tools > Text Strings or press <Alt><T><S>.
  2. In the Text Strings window, click Add to create a new text string.
    Or
    Select an existing text string and click Modify.
  3. Click Close when finished.

Feature How to use
Description field
  • If you clicked Add in the Text String window, the box is empty. Enter a unique description for the text string you want to create.
  • If you clicked Modify in the Text String window, the box contains the description for the selected text string. You can edit the description. 
Default:
  • Add button: Blank
  • Modify button: Contains the description of the selected text string
Text field
  • If you clicked Add in the Text String window, the box is empty. Enter the text string you want to create.
  • If you clicked Modify, the box contains the selected text string . Edit the text string as needed. 

 Note:

  • There is no limit on the number of characters in a text string.
  • To enter an entire field, type the tag, indicator 1, indicator 2, and the first character of the data with no spaces between them (e.g., 24510This is the title).
  • To enter multiple fields in a single text string, press <Enter> between fields.
  • (Optional)  Use a right-click menu to:

Default: Blank or contains selected existing text string.

 

Button name Click the button to...
OK Create the new text string or apply the changes you made to an existing text string. The window closes, and you return to the Text String window.
Cancel Cancel any changes you made and close the window. You return to the Text String window.
Enter Diacritics (Optional) Open the Enter Diacritics and Special Characters window to enter a diacritic or character in a description or a text string.
