Hourly Average Circulation Activity
Overview
The Hourly Average Circulation Activity report displays a chart of average circulation activity by hour within a specified date range for selected branch(es) for the selected day(s). The default date range is the last six months of activity. This chart is interactive, and after you select or deselect event types, the chart regenerates. You can use this chart to display busy and slow times at the circulation desk and provide decision support on staffing levels needed.
This report also allows you to personalize the report visual by selecting which metrics you want to use to evaluate hourly activity at your branches. For example, you may wish to include bills paid, bills created, etc., in your activity.

Report slicers
The Hourly Average Circulation Activity report visual has three slicers that can be applied to the visual. Each slicer is set to All by default.

Report visual
The Hourly Average Circulation Activity report visual displays all circulation event averages by default.
- Click a circulation event average type to change the graphs in the visual. Available circulation event average types include:
- Reclick the circulation event average type to restore all visuals in the report to the default.
- Hover over an area of the bar chart to view the tooltips for the circulation event average type. Tooltips include:
- Event Hour of Day 24
- Circulation event type average (e.g., Items Checked Out (Avg))
- Total
Personalize the report visual
The Hourly Average Circulation Activity report lets you personalize the visual by adding or removing fields from the Personalize pop-up menu. The Personalize pop-up menu allows you to:
- Select a different Visualization type for the visual.
- Add, remove, or select a different field for the Y-axis. OCLC recommends using this personalization for your desired measures.
- Add or remove fields from the X-axis.
Caution: Do not use the following options: Legend, Small multiples, or Tooltip
Any changes you make in the Personalize pop-up menu are automatically applied to the visual. Click the Revert all personalized changes button (
) to restore the default visual.
Note: Personalized report visuals cannot be saved as a bookmark.
To personalize the Hourly Average Circulation Activity report visual:
- Hover over the visual and click the Personalize this visual button (
) in the upper-left corner to open the Personalize pop-up menu. - From the Personalize pop-up menu:
- Click Add a new field to search for and add a new field to the visual.
- For categories already assigned values, click the Add a new field button (
) to search for and add a new field to the visual.
- For categories already assigned values, click the Add a new field button (
- Click the More options button (
) > Remove field to remove a field from the visual.
- Click Add a new field to search for and add a new field to the visual.
