Why does data from our Local Holding Records show up on article records outside of our print holdings?

Symptom
  • We use WorldShare Management System as our ILS and see local print data appearing on article records we don't own.
Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Resolution

The system is matching WorldShare Record Manager holdings and Local Holding Records (LHRs) based on the ISSN of the article and the journal. WorldCat Discovery sees the ISSN on the article record and it goes and looks in WorldShare Record Manger, where it sees that the library has holdings on the same ISSN and that LHRs are attached to that ISSN. It then displays those LHRs.

In addition to ISSNs in the 022 $a, this matching process also applies to ISSNs in the 022 $y.
