Are we missing a setting to allow patrons to make ILL requests from the A-Z titles page?

Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
  • WorldShare Interlibrary Loan
Answer

You are not missing a setting. This is how the system currently functions. When a user queries the A-Z List, only items originating in the WorldCat knowledge base are included in the query.  The query is not connected to WorldCat bibliographic data, so if there is no article in WorldCat.org, then a WorldShare ILL button will not display.

This is because WorldShare ILL is dependent on the metadata present in the database WorldCat.org to populate the WorldShare ILL request form.  OpenURL forms, such as Tipasa or ILLiad, do not have this requirement.  They can use the metadata entered by either manual input or third party linking to the A-Z list to populate the request form and do not require the metadata to be present in WorldCat.org.
