Authentication error Status Code: 999 at login

Symptom

  • Users get this message after trying to log in to WorldShare:
    Authentication error
    Status Code: 999

Resolution

This is a generic error message that some part of the SAML / Shibboleth authentication is not working. If your library is not using SAML/Shibboleth to authenticate into WorldShare, please attempt to log in again using an incognito window. 

If the authentication has worked before:

Contact your Identity Provider (IdP) Support team and ask if anything changed on their side of the process.

For example:

  • New SAML signing certificate or Metadata
  • idAtSource, or custom NameID field that has been selected during the implementation is no longer released from the IdP to WMS
