ILLiad won't open and gives "unable to locate logon" file error
Symptom
- Error: "Unable to load logon settings: Unable to locate a logon settings file"
- Error: "ILLiad was unable to locate a Logon.dbc file. Please create one using the SQL Alias Manager and set it as the default for ILLiad to use."
Applies to
- ILLiad
Resolution
Here are the steps to fix the missing logon file:
- Open up the ATLAS SQL Alias Manager on the desktop by right-clicking on it and "Run as Administrator."
- After it opens, check on the left side under ILLiad and make sure there is a file name that is set as default.
- If there is a file name there, click on it. If not, skip to step 6.
- Click on the "Set as Default (Local Machine)" button at the top.
- You will get a message about the location of the Default Logon file. Choose OK.
- If there is not a file name under ILLiad, then click on ILLiad.
- Follow the steps in the Atlas SQL Alias Manager documentation for adding a new entry. If are unsure of what information to enter, contact OCLC Support.
Alternative: If there is another computer where ILLiad is currently working, copy the logon.dbc file from the C:\Program Files (x86)\ILLiad folder and put it in the same folder on the computer that doesn't have one. Open the file, which opens the SQL Alias Manager, and click "Set Default (Local Machine)".
