Error connecting after IP change of ILLiad database

  • Getting a connection error getting into the ILLiad client after an update happened to the ILLiad database IP address.
  • Seeing an error like "ILLiad Client. An error occurred while loading the main form: A network-related or instance specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. )Provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 – The wait operation timed out.)"

Generally, you will use the hostname to point to the ILLiad database, which would automatically go to a new IP for you database. But if you use security software like Zscaler or Sophos that requires the specific IP address(es) to allow you will need to add the IP address to that, or try disabling this software and see if the error persists. If it does contact OCLC Support for assistance.
