This release of changes to WorldCat Validation involves the following new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
These enhancements and fixes are the result of announcements of new MARC elements and codes by the Library of Congress as well as feedback and requests from members of the OCLC community.
You may now use all new MARC Codes announced by the Library of Congress in the following LC Technical Notices:
The following source code has been added to the Classification Scheme Source Codes list for usage in appropriate fields and elements.
The following source code has been added to the Entity Type Source Codes for usage in appropriate fields and elements.
The following source code has been added to the Frequency of Issue Code and Term Source Codes list for usage in appropriate fields and elements.
The following source code has been added to the Genre/Form Code and Term Source Codes list for usage in appropriate fields and elements.
The following source codes have been added to the Standard Identifier Source Codes list for usage in appropriate fields and elements.
In Bibliographic field 535 (Location of Originals/Duplicates Note), an outdated validation relationship between obsolete First Indicator (Custodial Role) values and Leader/06 (Type of Record) value “p” (Mixed Materials) has been removed.
In Bibliographic field 851 (Physical Location), subfield $g (Repository Location Code) is now correctly associated with the standard validation check applied to codes from the MARC Code List for Countries (http://www.loc.gov/marc/countries/).
