049 invalid code validation error

Symptom
  • You get the error "049 - invalid code" when validating a new MARC record you've created

Resolution

Confirm that you are using the correct Local Holding code and haven't mistyped it. If it is correct, delete the content in your 049 tag and re-type it from scratch in case there are blank spaces in there. If problems persist, contact OCLC Support with your name, library symbol and the number of the Online save file record you are working with.
