Import Options

Find out how to access and use the Import Options window in Connexion client.

Purpose of the Import Options window

  • Assign your default constant data record to imported bibliographic and authority records (separate settings).
  • Assign a custom My Status to imported bibliographic records (only; unavailable for authority records). Use one or both of the following:
    • A record type you select from a list, if you want to indicate that the records came from an offline OCLC service.
      And/Or
    • Free text (up to 40 characters maximum, including both record type and free text).

Access the Import Options window

  1. Navigate to File > Import Records or press <Alt><F><I> and then click Options.
  2. Select a check box to apply the default constant data to bibliographic and/or authority records.
  3. Select a record type and/or enter an identifier to apply a My Status to imported records.
  4. Click OK.

Feature How to use
Apply Default Constant Data area
Bibliographic check box Select the check box to apply your default bibliographic constant data to imported bibliographic records.

Default: Check box is deselected. Default constant data is not applied.

The name of the default bibliographic constant data record is shown below the check box. If none is selected, the client displays [none].

If you import to the online bibliographic save file, the client applies the online default constant. If you import to the local save file, the client applies the local default constant data.
Authority check box Select the check box to apply your default authority constant data to imported authority records.

Default: Check box is deselected. Default constant data is not applied.

The name of the default authority constant data record is shown below the check box.

If you import to the online authority save file, the client applies the online default constant. If you import to the local save file, the client applies the local default constant data.
Assign My Status for Bibliographic Records area
(My Status is unavailable for imported authority records.)
Type list (Optional) Select the name of an OCLC offline service, if the bibliographic records to be imported were supplied by the service. The name becomes the My Status or part of the My Status.

Selections are:
  • Batch
  • BibNote
  • CollectionSet
  • GovDoc
  • PromptCat

For other records, leave the Type list empty.

Default: Blank. My Status is not assigned unless you select a service type.

Identifier box Type a free-text My Status to assign to imported bibliographic records. Assigning My Status can help identify and retrieve records or groups of records from the save file.

Default: Blank. My Status is not assigned unless you enter one.

Maximum number of characters: 40 (including the number of characters in a service type, if you select one).

The client truncates My Status after 40 characters.
Example:
In the Type list, select BibNote. In the Identifier box, enter your name; for example, B. Smith. My Status = BibNote B. Smith

 

Button name Click the button to...
OK Apply the settings you entered and close the window. You are returned to the Import Records window.
Cancel Cancel any changes you made and close the window. You are returned to the Import Records window.
