About recalls

Discover an introduction to recalls in OLIB.

There are 2 ways of sending a recall notice to a user who has an item on loan that is now reserved by another user. Both methods can use email or SMS Texting:

Individual recall notices

These can be sent at any time regardless of whether the item is overdue or if it has had previous overdue or recall notices. It is advisable in most cases to create a recall notice for each Location on your system.

Automatic recalls linked to a sequence

OLIB initiates the recall sequence automatically in Daystart instead of the overdue sequence, if an item is flagged as overdue and it has at least one reservation against it. The first recall notice in the sequence will be sent, and OLIB will send subsequent recall notices in the sequence at the appropriate times until the item is returned (or renewed if renewal of a recalled item is allowed).
