Add a database stanza
Discover how to add a database stanza as a self-hosted EZproxy library.
OCLC Support or the vendor.
Note: If you encounter issues with adding or creating a database stanza, please contactAdd a stanza provided by OCLC
- Open the OCLC database stanzas list and click the database stanza name you want to add to your self-hosted EZproxy instance.
- Copy the stanza directive from the database stanza page.
- Navigate to your EZproxy folder.
- Locate your config.txt file and open it in a text editor (e.g., Notepad or Notepad++).
- Navigate to where you have other resources saved in your config.txt file and paste the new stanza directive.
- Save the config.txt file.
- Restart your EZproxy service.
Or
Restart EZproxy from the Admin page.
Your new stanza should be available once EZproxy has finished restarting. - Test your new stanza by navigating to the Menu page and clicking the link for the new stanza.
- Update the vendor with your IP address ranges to ensure that they are allowed.
Add a stanza provided by a vendor
- Open the OCLC database stanzas list and verify that the vendor-provided database stanza does not appear in the list. If the stanza does appear, follow the steps outlined in Add a stanza provided by OCLC.
- Navigate to your EZproxy folder.
- Locate your config.txt file and open it in a text editor (e.g., Notepad or Notepad++).
- Navigate to where you have other resources saved in your config.txt file and paste the new stanza directive.
- Save the config.txt file.
- Restart your EZproxy service.

Restart EZproxy from the Admin page.

Build a basic stanza
If you unable to locate a database stanza in the OCLC database stanzas list and a stanza has not been provided by the vendor, you can build your own basic EZproxy database stanza. See Basic stanza construction for more information.
