Display Settings

Learn how to configure a custom notification to display to your library users on WorldCat Discovery.

Modernized WorldCat Discovery Experience

Enable the Migrate all users to modernized experience setting to redirect users to the modernized WorldCat Discovery interface. This setting is disabled by default.

Note:  It is recommended that you plan your institution’s full transition to the modernized interface after the availability of all planned features by June 2021.

For a preview of the modernized WorldCat Discovery interface, select the hyperlinked URL specific to your institution.  The preview URL will allow controlled use of the modernized interface by specific groups of users at your institution without redirecting all traffic from your current WorldCat Discovery URL.

Note:  It is recommended that you use a private or incognito window when accessing the preview URL. From the private or incognito browser window, you can close the window and return to your current WorldCat Discovery site.  If you access the modernized WorldCat Discovery interface for your institution from a standard browser window, exit the preview by restarting your browser.

Sign-in Promotion

Determine whether to promote sign-in to library users by enabling the Display sign-in prompt. Signing-in allows users to request materials and access My Account.

Note:  WorldCat Discovery is working on future functionality that will provide a deeper level of personalization which will require user’s to sign-in before taking advantage of these upcoming features.

WorldCat Holdings Audience Levels Access

 Note: Reserved for future functionality.

WorldCat holdings audience levels will allow WMS libraries to control who can see if they have specific titles or copies of an item in their collection. By assigning a specific level to a holding, you can suppress the holding from the general public. Setting up IP address restrictions allows My Authenticated Users to access holdings without having to sign-in if they are within the recognized IP range.

  • You will need to manage and assign WorldCat Holdings Audience Levels in Record Manager. WorldCat Discovery considers these settings and displays the appropriate access level to users.
