Circulation Integration

Use this screen to set up Tipasa integration with your Circulation system.

Circulation

For WMS libraries:

Activating integration is the final step in configuring Tipasa and WorldShare Circulation integration. 

  1. Complete all steps as described in Set up Tipasa and WorldShare Circulation integration.
  2. Select the On check box below Enable WMS Circulation integration to activate the integration.
  3. Select WMS from the ILS drop-down list.
  4. Enable additional borrowing configurations.
  5. Enable additional lending configurations.
  6. Click Save.

For Third-party ILS libraries:

  1. Complete all steps as described in Set up third-party Circulation integration.
  2. Select the On check box below Enable Circulation integration to activate the integration.
  3. Select your ILS from the drop-down list. Options include:
    • Alma
    • Horizon
    • Millennium
    • Sierra
    • Symphony
  4. Enter your NCIP Server Address.
  5. If using Alma:
    • Enter your Alma Institution Code.
  6. If using Horizon, Millennium, Sierra or Symphony:
    • Enter your To Agency ID (required).
    • Users should leave From Agency ID blank unless instructed by OCLC to enter a value. 
  7. Enable additional borrowing configurations.
  8. Enable additional lending configurations.
  9. Click Save.

Borrowing configurations

Configure additional options as the borrowing institution by selecting the On check box. Options include:

Configuration Description
Update/Create circulation item record on received When the item is marked as Received in Tipasa, the temporary item is created in WorldShare Circulation.
Use supplier's shipped item barcode The supplier's shipped item barcode is the barcode of the item as entered by the lending library into the request. If enabled, the supplier's barcode is automatically updated in the Temporary barcode field of the borrowing request.
 

 Note: The supplier's barcode can be overwritten in the request.

Use request ID as item barcode
  • WMS: The request ID is a unique number assigned to your ILL request after it is submitted. If enabled, the request ID is automatically updated in the Temporary barcode field of the borrowing request.
  • Non-WMS: The Request ID will be used as the item barcode in the Temporary barcode field of the borrowing request. (Recommended

 Note: The supplier's barcode can be overwritten in the request.

Update due date upon lender approval of renewal request

 Note: For Alma libraries. 

When a renewal request has been approved by the lending library, the due date of the temporary item is updated in the Alma Circulation system

 

Check in item on returned

When the item is updated to Returned in Tipasa:

  • WMS: The temporary item is checked into WorldShare Circulation.
  • Non-WMS: The temporary item is deleted in your library system.
Charge patron on shipped

Automatically assess a patron fee when the lending library marks a request as ShippedIn Transit.

  • Only available for WMS and Alma Libraries.

Lending configurations

Configure additional options as the lending institution by selecting the On check box. Options include:

When Tipasa staff reply Yes to a request:

  • WMS: The item is checked out to the borrowing institution patron account in WorldShare Circulation.
  • Non-WMS: The item is moved to the ILL temporary location in your library system as configured when setting up the integration.
Check in item on check in

When the item is Checked in/Complete in Tipasa:

  • WMS: It is checked in and appears available in WorldShare Circulation.
  • Non-WMS: It is restored to its permanent location and appears available in your library system Circulation environment.

ILS locations

Define pickup location names and optional location codes for circulation integration, request transfer, and general coordination and communication within your library. Specify which pickup locations are included on your request form to help library users and ILL staff specify the preferred pickup location for requested items.

To add a new location:

  1. Select Add location.
  2. Enter the Location name, Location code, and Location type.
  3. Click Save.

To edit the location, select the pencil icon in the Edit column. Designate whether a location is Active or Inactive by selecting the appropriate toggle in the Status column.

To enable specific locations on the request form for your library's users, navigate to the Request Forms section of the WorldShare ILL module in the OCLC Service Configuration. Refer to Request Forms for more information. The specified pickup locations then display on the library users' request form as well as in the staff interface.
