Error: "Did not find End-of-Record" when exporting via gateway export or TCP/IP.

Symptom
  • When trying to export via gateway export or TCP/IP, I see an error in WorldShare Record Manager that reads ERROR: Did not find End-of-Record.
Applies to
  • WorldShare Record Manager
  • Connexion client
Resolution
This error comes from your ILS (e.g. Sierra, Koha, Alma, etc.) and indicates that your ILS cannot find the end of the record.

For either cataloging product:
  • Test if you are able to successfully export records that are not edited. If so, please review any constant data you're applying for any unintentional errors (e.g. your constant data is set up to apply both fixed and variable fields).
  • Test setting your export format to be "UTF-8".
  • Verify that the file is formatted correctly to the specifications of the receiving catalog software. Contact your ILS's support for their required/preferred import profile formatting specifications.
    • This error can occur because there is a hex character missing from the end of the record. The hex character is used as a stop sign for some third-party catalogs use to key upload commands.
For Connexion client:
  • Try running a Compact/Repair on your Local Save File. It is possible a record is corrupted in your Local Save File.  Afterwards, search for a new record, apply the local default constant data, and try exporting it.

If these steps do not help resolve the error, please contact OCLC Support in your region with the troubleshooting steps you have tried, a full-page screenshot of the error, and if it happens with all records (versus happening to a single record)?
