Record Manager error: "Import failed. Reason: Failed to convert marc record to marc.xml."

Symptom

  • When trying to export a record in Record Manager, you receive the error message "Import failed. Reason: Failed to convert marc record to marc.xml."
  • You may receive this error even if the export itself appears to be successful.

Applies to

  • WorldShare Record Manager

Resolution

If you receive this error when working with records that have been sent to an export list, try creating a new export list, as the existing one has likely become corrupted.

If you receive this error when exporting directly from the record,  confirm that your record format under User Preferences > Exporting - Bibliographic Records > General > Format is set to MARC 21 with UTF-8 Unicode.
