Error: "Unable to export the bibliographic record. Invalid or missing host name."

Symptom

  • When exporting records to your ILS via TCP/IP, you get an error reading "Unable to export the bibliographic record. Invalid or missing host name."

Applies to

  • WorldShare Record Manager

Resolution

This error means that there is either no host name entered in your TCP/IP settings, or there is a typo in the host name.

  1. In Record Manager, go to User Preferences > Exporting - Bibliographic Records > TCP/IP
  2. Ensure you have the correct host name entered in the Host Name field. Check for any accidental spaces or typos. If it looks correct, double check with your ILS vendor to be sure.
