Add local data
Learn how to add local data, such as call numbers, with the simplified cataloging role in Record Manager.
Overview
Local data allows you to add your institution-specific data to a bibliographic record. Local data includes call numbers, locations, notes and more.
Add local data
- From a bibliographic record, click on the Add Local Data button.
- The Add Local Data pop-up screen appears.
- Click in the data entry boxes to add local data.
- When you are finished adding data, click Set Holdings and Export if you have not already set a holding on the record.
Or
Select Send to if you have already set a holding on the record, and choose one of the following:- Export list
- Label print list
- Local System (via TCP/IP)

When you need more information on a field or detailed guidance on data entry, you can also click the hyperlinked name of the desired field within the user interface. A new browser window opens to display the section from OCLC Bibliographic Formats and Standards that describes the selected field and explains its use.
Add a location or note field
- To add an additional set of Location or Note fields, use Add button (
).
- To remove a set of Location of Note fields, use the Remove button (
).
Call number entry
You can enter a Dewey call number, Library of Congress call number, a National Library of Medicine call number, or a local call number in records.
- Choose the type of call number you'd like to enter from the Call Number Type drop-down list.
- Dewey
- Library of Congress
- National Library of Medicine
- Local call numbers
- Place the cursor in Call Number Class. Type the class part of the call number.
- Place the cursor in Item Number/Cutter. Type the Cutter part of the call number.
