Why did our Data Sync created New OCNs for Equipment records sent?

Symptom

• We had assumed that since equipment records have no OCNs that OCLC would reject them. Instead, it created errant records in the WorldShare reports.

Applies to

Resolution

Anything via a Data Sync is going to look for a WorldCat match. If it does not find one, it will create a record with an OCN. If you do not want those items in WorldCat.org, then you need to make sure you are not sending them.
