You are prompted to purchase access to a title or notified a title is not available after accessing a knowledge base link
Symptom
- When you access a knowledge base link from a WorldCat Discovery record, you receive an error that is similar to "Sorry, this book is not available. Please contact your librarian about purchasing it, or search for another book"
Applies to
- Collection Manager
- WorldCat Discovery
Resolution
Links will surface on Discovery records for titles you have selected in the knowledge base. It's possible that a title you have selected is outside of your subscription with that provider. Please contact the provider of the content to confirm that you should have access to the title and make changes to your selections in the knowledge base if necessary.
If you have an automatic holdings feed for the collection, confirm that the box for the "Automatically select new titles added to this collection by provider" setting is not checked. This setting prevents the automatic holdings feed from running correctly and can result in titles that are outside of your subscription being selected.
Some providers require vendor-specific settings for knowledge base linking. Confirm that Provider Settings have been configured for the provider in your Institution Settings if necessary.
If this does not resolve the issue, please contact OCLC Support with a link to the WorldCat Discovery page and a description of the issue.
