Language of Cataloging (Fundamentals)

Discover how to specify a language of cataloging for a collection in WorldShare Collection Manager Fundamentals.

Note: This feature is available by request only.

Overview

You can choose to specify a language of cataloging for your collection, in order to improve cross-format matching. This will help your library in two ways:

  1. For titles without English cataloging records: New English-language records will be automatically created through Collection Manager Fundamental's Automated process.
  2. For titles with existing non-English cataloging records: You can retain current non-English cataloging records instead of having them replaced with English versions.

The Language of Cataloging is determined by the language specified in the 040 $b field of the MARC record.
