Are name and subject headings in MARC records added via Digital Collection Gateway also added too VIAF?

Symptom

• You need to know if the records you've been adding to WorldCat via Digital Collection Gateway are also added into VIAF.

• CONTENTdm.

Resolution

VIAF includes all authority records in WorldCat. When Digital Collection Gateway uploads a record, it adds the record to WorldCat, but the name and subject headings are not linked to or controlled through an authority record. Until the headings are linked to an authority record, the headings won't be included in VIAF.
