I'm seeing an error when opening an authority record in my online save file

Symptom

  • When using Connexion Client, you receive the following error when attempting to open an authority record in the online save file: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Applies to

  • Connexion Client (all versions)

Resolution

If you have access to WorldShare Record Manager as well, you can open the record in the online save file there, make a small change, and save the record. This will allow the record to open the next time you log into Connexion Client. Here are the steps:

  1. Open WorldShare and navigate to the Metadata tab >> Record Manager
  2. In the search, set the Data Type to Authority Records
  3. In the search, set the Scope to Saved - In Progress
  4. In the search, set the Index to Save File Number
  5. Enter the save file number from Connexion and click the Search button
  6. When the record loads in the search results, click the Edit button
  7. Make a small change to the record's 100 field. This can be as small as adding or removing a period or other punctuation mark.
  8. Click on the Save button at the top of the record and select Save In-Progress Authority Record from the drop-down menu
  9. Once you receive confirmation that the record has saved in Record Manager, open Connexion Client
  10. The authority record should now open in the online save file in Connexion Client
