Add template
Learn how to add a Metadata template in CONTENTdm (new version).
An All Metadata Properties template is automatically created in your instance of CONTENTdm (new version). Every time a property is created, it will automatically appear in the All Metadata Properties template.
Caution: Do not remove properties from the All Metadata Properties template.
Add a template
From the Metadata templates screen:
- Click Add template.
- On the Add metadata template screen, enter the Template name.
- Click on Select properties.
- Use the Search bar to retrieve specific properties or browse through the list.
- Click on the desired property(ies) under All metadata properties and use the arrow buttons ot move them to the Properties in template section.
- Additionally, use the arrow buttons to remove properties from the Properties in template list.
- Select Transfer all to include all the available properties. Use the Remove all button to remove all the selected properties for the template.
Note: Available metadata properties are managed in Metadata properties.
- Once the properties have been added, use the arrows in the Order column to reorder their appearance in the template. You can also directly change the number in the text box to change the order.
- Determine if there are any constraints on the property for the collections associated with the template. Constraints in the template override those set at the property level.

- Note: To add additional vocabularies, refer to Controlled vocabularies.

- Select whether the property is Required for the collections associated with the template. The Required setting in the template overrides what is set at the property level.
- Click Save.
