Why is external URL that I added to the metadata not saved correctly?

Applies to

  • CONTENTdm

Answer

If your URL contains special characters, then that may be the problem. Special characters need to be encoded to be translated correctly in CONTENTdm metadata fields. For example, if the URL contains a parenthesis, then it must be encoded as a % instead. This will ensure that the encoded characters within the pathway work correctly and direct the user to the correct target.
