I am unable to access an item after changing item-level permissions.
Symptom
- After changing item-level permissions, you are unable to find an item.

- CONTENTdm
Resolution
Use the following steps to find the item in CONTENTdm Administration and restore permissions:
- Export a Custom XML file from the collection with only the Title and CONTENTdm Number fields selected.
- Search the file for the title of the item. Copy the CONTENTdm Number on the line directly below the title.
- In CONTENTdm Administration, go to items > edit > browse collection and click on metadata next to any item.
- The number at the very end of the URL after the "=" is the CONTENTdm Number. Delete the CONTENTdm Number and paste in the one from the XML file. Click enter.
- This will pull up the metadata for the item you were unable to find. From here, you will be able to correct the item permissions.
- Be sure to save the item and index the collection afterward.
