COUNTER 5 Platform Usage
Overview
The COUNTER 5 Platform Usage report summarizes your COUNTER 5 platform usage, utilizing the PR_P1 file type. This report also contains a drill-through detail report.
Report details
- Dataset: E-Resources COUNTER 5
- Data refresh rate: This report's data is updated nightly. It will be updated by 6 a.m. your institution's data center time. The data will be "as of" the end of the previous day.
- Data history start date: Data since institutions started using License Manager and COUNTER data harvesting
- Default date range: The last 13 calendar months
- Report type: Interactive

Visuals
The COUNTER 5 Platform Usage report contains three visuals.
Metric Selector
The COUNTER 5 Platform Usage metric selector allows you to change the appearance of all visuals and columns in the report to limit by platform usage type. By default, all item usage types are selected.
- Deselect the Select all checkbox.
- Select one or more of the available platform usage types.
- Select the Select all checkbox to restore the appearance of all visuals and columns to their default.
Visualization options
The COUNTER 5 Platform Usage report provides two different visualizations.
- Click Summary to access a bar chart that shows, by default, the Platform Searches for the various COUNTER Item Platforms by month for the time period you entered in the prompt. The Summary visual is the default visualization for this report.
- Click Tree Map to access a treemap that shows hierarchical data as a set of nested rectangles. Hover over a COUNTER Item Platform rectangle to view the total number of unique item requests (PR_P1) for the platform.
Bar chart
The Platform Usage by COUNTER Item Platform bar chart allows you to change the appearance of all visuals and columns in the report to limit by vendor name or platform usage type.
- Click a vendor name to limit all visuals and columns to content for that vendor.
- Click an item usage type to limit all visuals and columns to metrics for that platform usage type.
- Reclick the selected area to restore the appearance of all visuals and columns to their default.
Columns
You can click a column name to change the column sort.
- Click once to sort the column in ascending order.
- Click twice to sort the column in descending order.
- Click three times to restore the column to its original order.
COUNTER 5 Platform Usage Trends report visuals
The COUNTER 5 Platform Usage Trends report can be launched from the COUNTER 5 Platform Usage report. It provides a monthly view of your COUNTER 5 platform usage, utilizing the PR_P1 file type. This view provides a way to easily identify any months that may be missing data, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments in WorldShare License Manager to ensure that all months are error-free.
To access the COUNTER 5 Database Usage Detail report:
- Hover over a row in the COUNTER 5 Platform Usage report, hover over Drill through from the pop-up dialog, and click the Magnifying glass button (
) in the pop-up menu.
Or - Right-click a row in the COUNTER 5 Platform Usage report, hover over Drill through from the pop-up menu, and click the Magnifying glass button () in the pop-out menu.
