Why are items missing from my Shelf Read list in Digby?

Symptom

  • When using Digby in either Shelf Read or the Combined Read Shelf and Inventory mode, an item physically on the shelf is not showing in the list of items in Digby.

Resolution

Reasons why an item would not show on a Shelf Read list include:

  • The item belongs to a different branch or shelving location. Digby's sessions are restricted to a specific branch and shelving location. If the item on the shelf belongs to a different holding location or shelving location, it wouldn't be expected to show in the list.
  • The item is cataloged on a multipart LHR. Digby does not currently support multipart LHRs.
  • The item has not been cataloged. If an item doesnot belong at the library or belongs at a different shelf, it wouldn't be included in Digby's list.
  • The call numbers on the items use different classification schemes. Differing schemes could prevent Digby from sorting correctly.

If you have an item missing in Digby that can't be explained by any of the above, contact OCLC Support with a screenshot of Digby showing where the item should be, the barcode/call number of the missing item, and a Shelf Read report from your session, if possible.
