Prompted to create a temporary item when searching a barcode

Symptom

• You are searching for a known barcode in Circulation > Discover Items and get prompted to create a temporary item. The system doesn't seem to recognize the barcode.

• WorldShare Circulation
• WorldShare Record Manager
• WorldShare Management Services (WMS)

Resolution

1. Check for typos in the barcode you entered and try again.
2. Check the associated local holdings record (LHR) in Record Manager and make sure the barcode is in the correct field. It should be in the 876 $p. If it is in a different field, move it to the 876 $p.
