Bill Resolution Confirmation

Learn how to create a template for bill resolution confirmation notifications.

Use this notification to confirm that a bill has been paid or waived.

Caution: When a member library enables a single Next-Generation Notification, all of its legacy notifications are disabled. For group aware libraries, OCLC recommends coordinating a single rollout window across the consortium to avoid patrons experiencing mixed notification experiences when borrowing from multiple libraries.

Create the Bill Resolution Confirmation template

To access Billing templates, navigate to Service Config > WMS Circulation > Next-Generation Notifications > Templates > Billing.

Caution: OCLC recommends reviewing your billing notification templates and patron type policy assignments in advance, especially in group-aware environments, to ensure uninterrupted delivery of receipts at service desks. If a billing template is not assigned to a patron type, staff may be unable to generate a printed or emailed receipt at the time a bill is resolved. Receipts cannot be recreated after the transaction is completed.

To create the template:

  1. From the Billing templates screen, select Bill Resolution Confirmation from the Create template drop-down.
  2. Enter the following settings:
Setting Description
Name

Enter a name for the template.

  • The name must be unique per institution.
  • 50 character limit.

  • 255 character limit.
  1. Click Save.
  2. Optional. Enter a Header and/or a Footer for your notification. Click Edit underneath each section to be edited.
    • 50,000 character limit for each.

    • To add a Patron Type Message to the Header or Footer, enter ${Patron Type Message into a text block. When the template is assigned to a circulation policy and a notification is triggered, the notification will include all patron type messages assigned to the recipient’s patron type. If there are multiple Patron type messages assigned to a particular patron type, each message will be included in the Header or Footer.
    • To add additional data fields, use the ${Data Field form to enter the desired information. Example: ${Item Barcode

  5. Click Save
  6. Optional. Enter a Text Message for your notification. This message may be truncated depending on the actual length of the content in the message. Note the character limit for your messaging system.
  7. Click Save.

Once you have created the Bill Resolution Confirmation template, assign this template to all Patron Type Policies to enable the template to be used. If a billing template is not assigned to a patron type, staff may be unable to generate a printed or emailed receipt at the time a bill is resolved. Receipts cannot be recreated after the transaction is completed.
