Moving previously-received serial issues to a different WorldCat record
Symptom
- You received serial issues on one OCN, but want to move them to another. Additionally, you want to bind the issues in the future.
Applies to
- WorldShare Acquisitions
Resolution
The issues will need to be moved to a new LHR on the new WorldCat record. However, the binding process requires that the issues be present on the same LHR on which they were received, meaning that the issues can't simply be moved by manual LHR edits in Record Manager, for example. The following workflow can be used for this case:
- Make a screenshot or an export of the LHR on the first OCN, ensuring you can match which barcode corresponds with which issue, if you have multiple
- On the Issues screen in Acquisitions, unreceive the desired issue(s) on the first OCN
- This will remove those issues from the LHR on the first record, and the items in Circulation will be marked as Withdrawn (Available). They should move back into Available at the end of this workflow, so this would be a temporary consequence
- Wait five minutes to ensure proper barcode indexing
- From the Copies screen, create a copy LHR on the new OCN
- Return to the Issues screen
- Click "Start Receiving" and input your receiving settings
- Receive the desired issues on the new OCN, ensuring that the correct barcodes are input for their corresponding issues
Once complete, the issues should show in the Copies Received column, and all barcodes should be available and present on the new OCN. Because the issues were received on the Issues screen, they should be able to be bound as expected when that time comes.
