DNS changes take time to propagate
Symptom
- The IP of a proxied resource has changed, and the DNS entry has been adjusted by their infrastructure provider
- But requests through EZproxy are still sent to the old IP
Applies to
- All EZproxy versions
Resolutions
- Flush the DNS resolver cache for the EZproxy host computer.
- Wait a day
The DNS server that EZproxy uses to resolve names to IP addresses has not yet received the new IP.
The duration for the change to propagate depends on various settings of the involved DNS servers.
The name should be resolved to the new IP after 24 hours at the latest.
