Add a database stanza

Discover how to add a database stanza as a self-hosted EZproxy library.

Note: If you encounter issues with adding or creating a database stanza, please contact OCLC Support or the vendor.

Add a stanza provided by OCLC

  1. Open the OCLC database stanzas list and click the database stanza name you want to add to your self-hosted EZproxy instance.
  2. Copy the stanza directive from the database stanza page.
  3. Navigate to your EZproxy folder.
  4. Locate your config.txt file and open it in a text editor (e.g., Notepad or Notepad++).
  5. Navigate to where you have other resources saved in your config.txt file and paste the new stanza directive.
  6. Save the config.txt file.
  7. Restart your EZproxy service.
    Or
Restart EZproxy from the Admin page.

Your new stanza should be available once EZproxy has finished restarting.
  8. Test your new stanza by navigating to the Menu page and clicking the link for the new stanza.
  9. Update the vendor with your IP address ranges to ensure that they are allowed.

Add a stanza provided by a vendor

  1. Open the OCLC database stanzas list and verify that the vendor-provided database stanza does not appear in the list. If the stanza does appear, follow the steps outlined in Add a stanza provided by OCLC.
  2. Navigate to your EZproxy folder.
  3. Locate your config.txt file and open it in a text editor (e.g., Notepad or Notepad++).
  4. Navigate to where you have other resources saved in your config.txt file and paste the new stanza directive.
  5. Save the config.txt file.
  6. Restart your EZproxy service.
    Or
Restart EZproxy from the Admin page.

Your new stanza should be available once EZproxy has finished restarting.
  7. Test your new stanza by navigating to the Menu page and clicking the link for the new stanza.
  8. Update the vendor with your IP address ranges to ensure that they are allowed.

Build a basic stanza

If you unable to locate a database stanza in the OCLC database stanzas list and a stanza has not been provided by the vendor, you can build your own basic EZproxy database stanza. See Basic stanza construction for more information.
