Bibliographic record fields and subfields

View all of the fields, subfields, index names, and index labels for the bibliographic record WorldCat indexes.

Word, phrase (entire subfield) and whole phrase (entire field) versions of indexes are distinguished by whether a colon follows the two-letter index label (:), or by an equal sign (=), or by a letter "w" and an equal sign, respectively. See Types of searches for a detailed explanation of word, phrase, and whole phrase indexes. Whole phrase indexes are available only in Connexion. FirstSearch has only one whole phrase index—the Subject heading index (sa=).

The fields and subfield groupings are listed in numerical tag order and within a tag group, in alphabetical order by index name. In the tables, you can click the name of a search index to view a detailed description of the index.
